India will be the manufacturing hub
Trump said that he has asked Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook to reduce manufacturing in India. The source said, “Apple has assured that its investment plans in India remain intact and India will be a major manufacturing center for its products.”
In this regard, Apple has not received any answer to the questions sent through e-mail. Earlier, Trump said in a program during Qatar’s visit that he told Cook and told him that he was not in favor of Apple’s product in India.
Trump advised not to manufacture in India
The US President said, “You know, we have Apple and yesterday I had some trouble with Tim Cook. I told him that Tim you are my friend. I treated you very well. You are bringing $ 500 billion, but now I am hearing that you are going to manufacture all over India. I do not want you to manufacture in India. If you want to take care of India, then you can manufacture in India.
It is very difficult to sell goods in India- Trump
He said that India is one of the highest charge countries in the world and it is very difficult to sell goods in India. Trump said, “I told Tim that we treated you very well. We tolerated all your plants in China for years. Now you have to manufacture us. We are not interested in the fact that you manufacture in India. India can take care of itself. They are very good. We want you to manufacture here and Apple is going to increase production in America. ”
India comes to 15 percent iPhone
Cook has announced that the Apple will take most of the iPhones from India in the US in the June quarter amid tax uncertainty, while mobile phones will be manufactured for other markets in China. According to government sources, 15 percent of the global production of iPhone comes from India. Foxconn, Tata Electronics and Pagtron India (with a majority stake of Tata Electronics) are engaged in manufacturing iPhone. Foxconn has also started manufacturing Apple Airports in Telangana for export.
