A big news has come out for the students of engineering and science. IIT Guwahati has released the official information of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026). Through this examination, there is admission in post graduate and PhD programs in subjects like engineering, technology, science, architecture and humanities. Candidates will be able to apply from 25 August 2025 and the last date will be 25 September 2025.
Gate 2026 Exams will be held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026. The exam will be in two shifts. The first shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 am and the second shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates will be able to download the admit card from 2 January 2026. At the same time, scorecards will be available for free from 27 March to 31 May 2026.
New paper included
This time a special change has been made in the gate exam. A new paper of energy science has been added under Engineering Science (XE). However, the total number of examination papers will be 30. The appearance of the examination will be a computer based test (CBT) as before.
Application fee will have to be paid so much
In Gate 2026, the application fee has been kept separately according to the category. The fee for women candidates, SC, ST and Divyang category will be Rs 1000 in the general period and Rs 1500 in the extended period. For all other candidates, Rs 2000 has been fixed in the normal period and Rs 2500 in the extended period. The fee can be paid only through online medium like debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI.
How to do the application process?
- Candidates should first visit the official website gate2026.Iitg.ac.in.
- After this, click on “Registration” and enter your name, email ID and mobile number.
- Then after registration, login ID and password will be received.
- Now open the application form by login and fill your personal information like name, date of birth, address, educational qualification and examination center.
- After this, upload passport size photos, signature and necessary documents (eg category certificate or disabled certificate).
- Now pay the application fee through online.
- Then after checking all the details, submit the application form.
