Education is not a business, it is the right of children – Ashish Sood
The Education Minister called it a historic reform that came after 27 years. He said that for the past several decades, fee hike in private schools had been the biggest problem for parents, but earlier governments could not bring concrete laws on this issue. The present government has implemented this law in a short time, which makes it clear that the government is taking the problems of parents seriously.
Ashish Sood said in clear words that education is not a business but the right of children. The government will ensure that private schools do not increase fees arbitrarily or without solid reason. Now the education department will examine the proposed fee increase by schools, review their financial condition and monitor the entire process. Strict action will be taken immediately if fees are increased without approval.
Parents’ participation will be mandatory in this process
Parents have also been given great power in the new law. Participation of parents will be mandatory in the process of increasing fees. Every private school will have to make public its fee structure, income-expenditure details and financial requirements. Along with this, a strong system has also been made for redressal of complaints, so that parents can express their views directly.
Special monitoring will be done on private schools- Government
For a long time, private schools in Delhi were increasing tuition fees, admission fees and other charges heavily every year. There were attempts to control fees in 2007 and 2012, but due to legal loopholes they could not remain effective for long. This new law of 2025 claims to remove all those shortcomings.
The government has said that special monitoring of all private schools will be done in the coming months. Strict steps will be taken against schools violating the rules. The government claims that this law will provide relief to lakhs of parents and the education system of Delhi will become more accountable, honest and transparent.
