Railways has taken a unique step to ensure crowd management and safety of passengers and their luggage at railway stations. East Coast Railway has deployed humanoid robot ‘ASC Arjun’ at Visakhapatnam Railway Station. The name of the robot equipped with artificial intelligence is ‘ASC Arjun’.
Arjun’s job is to identify any suspicious person at the railway station. If there is a large crowd, immediately alert the concerned authorities so that crowd management can be done. Apart from this, it will also take care of cleanliness in the station premises. East Coast Railway has taken this historic initiative with the aim of protecting the passengers and their luggage and modernizing the railway services.
Indian Railways’ first humanoid robot “ASC Arjun” has been deployed at any railway station in the country. This ultra modern robot has been started under RPF, the objective of which is to increase the safety of passengers, improve crowd management and make passenger services at the station smarter.
Features of robot
ASC Arjun can identify suspicious activities and intrusions in the station premises through face recognition camera system and will immediately send an alert to the RPF. This robot also analyzes the crowd with the help of artificial intelligence and in case of excessive crowd, gives immediate alert to the control room and security personnel, so that the situation can be handled by reducing the crowd in time.
Not only this, ‘ASC Arjun’ can also make safety and information related announcements in Hindi, English and Telugu languages, which will provide ease to the passengers, especially during peak hours. The robot patrols the platform in a semi-autonomous manner, automatically avoids obstacles and maintains 24*7 surveillance, thereby further improving security.
Apart from this, ‘Arjun’ greets the passengers while talking to them and gives them necessary information. It also salutes the RPF officers. Apart from this, ‘Arjun’ is also capable of early detection of emergency situations like fire and smoke and immediately sends alerts to the control room about the emergency situation.
Let us tell you that ASC Arjun has been completely developed with indigenous technology, which has been designed and prepared in Visakhapatnam itself. It took almost a year to make it. This humanoid robot has been inaugurated by RPF Inspector General Alok Bohra and Divisional Railway Manager of Visakhapatnam Division Lalit Bohra.
