Whether it is killing infiltrators on the border or destroying the hideouts of terrorists across the border, India’s new Bhairav is ready with weapons. A new battalion of Bhairav Commando has been formed in the Indian Army, which is ready to take on the enemy.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday (October 24, 2025) met the commandos of the Army’s 1st Bhairav Battalion in Jaisalmer, adjacent to the Pakistan border, and extended good wishes during the Thar-Shakti exercise. These days a three-day (23-25 October) Army Commanders Conference has been organized in Jaisalmer. Rajnath Singh himself is addressing this army conference.
Bhairav battalion will be deployed on China-Pakistan border
During this time, the Army demonstrated its power in the Thar Desert adjacent to the Pakistan border and presented the Bhairav Battalion to the world for the first time. According to the information, five such Bhairav battalions will be ready by the end of this month. These battalions have been deployed on the border of China and Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir and north-eastern states.
Bhairav Battalion will act as the link between the Infantry Battalion and Special Forces (Para-SF). This year, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had announced the formation of Bhairav Battalion with the intention of making the army more lethal.
About 250 commandos in one battalion
The target is to create a total of 25 such battalions in the army. There will be about 250 commandos in each battalion. These commandos will be equipped with modern weapons along with special training. After Operation Sindoor, Bhairav Battalion has been formed to strengthen the infantry battalions of the Army.
After the formation of these Bhairav battalions, Para-SF commandos will be used for special missions. At present, Para-SF is used for Behind the Enemy Lines missions along with fighting terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir to North-East. These Para-SF commandos are equipped with heavy weapons along with para-jumping from the sky.
Bhairav battalion deployed for surprise attack
Bhairav Commando has been made lean and thin, that is, it has been prepared to fight on the ground with small arms. Along with carrying out surprise attacks on the enemy, Bhairav battalion will also be used for patrolling the sensitive borders. There are currently 350 infantry battalions in the Indian Army.
Every battalion already has a deadly platoon, which consists of 15-20 commandos, but Bhairav battalion is going to be more deadly than these deadly commandos. The special thing is that along with commandos of Bhairav battalion, infantry can also join units like artillery, signals and air defense of the army.
