Asia cup 2025: The Asia Cup 2025 has been announced for the Indian cricket team, but the debate on team selection has intensified. Especially the decision to keep Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the team has shocked many former cricketers. In his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’, Ashwin said that the selection is a task in which someone has to sit outside, but there is no justice to players like Shreyas and Jaiswal, perhaps someone has talked to both of them till now. Talking further on this, he questioned, “What is Shreyas’s fault? He won the title of IPL 2024 to Kolkata Knight Riders, took the Punjab Kings team to the finals for the first time after 2014 and crossed the short ball weakness and scored against bowlers like Bumrah and Rabada.
Questions raised about Jaiswal
Ashwin has also disappointed Yashasvi Jaiswal to be dropped from the team. He said that Jaiswal had played a great innings on a difficult pitch in the Oval Test, but still the selectors ignored him for the Asia Cup. He further said, “When you have a player like Jaiswal as the third opener, someone else was removed from the World Cup winning team and brought to Gill. I am happy for Shubman Gill, but I am very sad for Jaiswal and Shreyas. I have gone wrong with both these players.”
Nair also expressed resentment
Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nair has also criticized the selectors. He said that Shreyas’s name is not even in the list of 20 players indicated that now the selectors do not consider him a part of the T20 cricket plan. He said, “I do not understand why Shreyas is not in a 20 -member team. It simply means that he is no longer part of the selectors’ strategy.”

The BCCI has announced a 15 -member team for the Asia Cup. It will have Suryakumar Yadav captain, while Shubman Gill has returned as vice -captain.
