The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has issued new guidelines to prevent journalists from asking political questions in a press conference to calm the stressful situation released since the India-Pakistan match last Sunday. Before the press conference of spinner Kuldeep Yadav on Thursday, an ACC media officer requested the Indian media to ‘avoid any political questions’.
This step is being seen as a compensation for the loss as the media department of ACC is already under investigation over how to deal with this dispute. For example, UAE captain Muhammad Wasim was repeatedly asked questions about Pakistan’s arrival late for a match earlier this week.
The controversy arose when Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to join hands with his Pakistani counterpart Salman Ali Aga at the time of the toss. Indian players did not join hands with the opposing players even after the match in honor of the victims of Pahalgam terror attack.
After the constant questions were asked by Indian journalists in the press conference, this continental institution has now decided to stop political questions.
Meanwhile, a senior member of the ICC Board questioned how the match did not attend the pre -compulsory press conference despite being present for the training of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) team.
The official asked, “If there is an infectious disease or a team is in mourning then it makes sense, but why didn’t Pakistan join the press conference?” This press conference was to be held before the Pakistan-UAE match.
