Asia cup 2025: Big news has come out about Team India’s star batsman and Test team captain Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill is ill at this time and is resting at home and that is why he will not be able to play on the field. Due to which Gill will not be able to participate in the Dalip Trophy starting in Bangalore this week.
Gill is the captain of North Zone
The BCCI announced Shubman Gill as the captain of the team while announcing the North Zone team of the Dalip Trophy, but due to his lack of health, the management had to change. After Gill is out, now Ankit Kumar will lead the team in his place. At the same time, the selectors had already included Shubham Rohilla in the squad as Gill’s backup.
Duleep Trophy and Asia Cup conflict
The Dalip Trophy is to be held in Bengaluru from 28 August to 15 September. The first match of the North Zone will be played from the East Zone at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru. Even if Gill was fit, it was difficult to play his entire tournament as he has to represent India in the Asia Cup starting in UAE on 9 September.
He had shown power on England tour
Shubman Gill has recently returned from England tour, where he scored a total of 754 runs in 5 Tests of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy while batting brilliantly. Thanks to his best form, he has been made the vice -captain in India’s T20 team for the Asia Cup.

The North Zone has suffered a major setback due to being out of Gill. The team will now be confident of vice -captain Ankit Kumar, while Shubman Gill’s eyes will fit to return firmly for Team India in the Asia Cup.
