The Sri Lankan campaign will start from 13 September in the Asia Cup 2025, for which Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 16 -member team. Leg-spin all-rounder Vanindu Hasranga has been given a chance for this tournament. Hasranga was out of the T20 series against Zimbabwe recently due to hamstring injury, since then Hasranga is out of the team for recovery.
The inclusion of Hasranga in the Asia Cup team means that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is expected to recover on his time and play the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates from 9-28 September.
This bowler has taken 131 wickets in 79 T20 matches from Sri Lanka. Hasranga has scored two half -centuries with the bat.
Leg-spin all-rounder has been ranked in the team in place of Dushan Hemantha, while uncapricated batsman Vishen Halmbage was not included in the team for this tournament.
Vanindu Hasranga has been selected in the Asia Cup team with off -spinner Mahesh Thakkhana and left -arm spin all -rounder Dunith Vellalage.
A total of eight teams for the Asia Cup are divided into two groups. Group-A includes teams of India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman. At the same time, the teams of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Afghanistan are present in Group B.
The Sri Lankan team will take on Bangladesh on September 13, while on 15 September this team will face Hong Kong. On September 18, the Sri Lankan team will challenge Afghanistan.
Sri Lanka had earlier reached the final of the last Asia Cup in 2023. He won the competition held in T20 format in UAE in 2022.
