India’s youth Kabaddi team gave such a performance in the Asian Youth Games that filled the entire country with pride. In the match played in Bahrain, the Indian team defeated Pakistan by a huge margin of 81-26. Before this match, something happened during the toss, which caught everyone’s attention. Indian captain Ishant Rathi refused to shake hands with the Pakistani captain.
Pakistan’s crushing defeat
Despite this ‘no handshake’ moment at the time of toss, the Indian team played brilliantly on the field. From the beginning, India maintained its dominance over the match. Pakistan team could not stand before the speed and strategy of Indian players.
Earlier, India had tasted defeat to Bangladesh by 83-19 and Sri Lanka by 89-16. That means Team India has been undefeated in the tournament so far and is moving strongly towards the finals.
India’s sole rule in Kabaddi
This is the first time that Kabaddi has been made a part of the Asian Youth Games. Teams from seven countries are facing each other in round-robin format. The teams that will remain on top in this format will face each other in the final match to be held on October 23. Looking at the current performance, it seems that India has almost confirmed its place in the finals.
‘No handshake’ raised questions, but got the support of the country
The trend of “not shaking hands” has started appearing again and again between the players of India and Pakistan. A few months ago, in the Asia Cup cricket also, the team captained by Suryakumar Yadav had decided not to shake hands with Pakistani players after the match. The women’s team also did the same during the World Cup this year.
This stance has been taken by India after the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack. 26 Indians were killed in this attack. Many sports analysts believe that this ‘no handshake’ is a silent protest against Pakistan.
