How much damage Pakistan suffered in Operation Sindoor can be estimated from the statement of its Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Ishaq Dar has said that India had fired at least 80 drones in 36 hours. Along with this, he has confessed that Noor Khan Airbase located in Rawalpindi was also damaged in Indian drone attacks. In the press conference at the end of the year, Ishaq Dar admitted the loss caused in Operation Sindoor and said that during this time the soldiers deployed there were also injured.
Ishaq Dar said, ‘India fired a large number of drones into Pakistani territory in a short time.’ He claimed that at least 80 drones crossed the border within 36 hours. He said Pakistani forces intercepted 79 of them, but one drone hit a military base, injuring some people.
Dar said, Pakistan’s civil and military leadership under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Shariq had discussed the situation after the attack on the night of May 9. During this period many decisions were approved. India made a mistake by attacking Noor Khan airbase on 10 May. This has once again confirmed the attack.
Noor Khan Airbase is a major Pakistan Air Force airbase located in Rawalpindi. It was one of 11 airbases targeted by Indian strikes during Operation Sindoor. Apart from these, airbases of Sargodha, Rafiqui, Jacobabad and Murid were included.
What was Operation Sindoor?
The operation was started by the Indian Army on the morning of 7 May. This was a retaliatory action after the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Indian strikes targeted 9 terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK. Many military bases were also targeted.
Former Lieutenant General called Dar’s statement false
Retired Lieutenant General of the Indian Army KJS Dhillon has given a statement on the statement of Pakistan Minister Dar. He has rejected Pakistan’s modest claims. He also accused Dar of lying. Also said that the scale of destruction was much greater. Dhillon has also hinted at Pakistan’s media reports. He mentioned 138 people published on Pakistani news channel Sama TV. He was awarded the bravery award posthumously. This shows that many more people were killed than what Pakistan has officially acknowledged.
He said that in the video released by Pakistani citizens, Noor Khan airbase is seen on fire and all the 11 targeted airbases have suffered heavy damage. India’s attack on Noor Khan airbase was first confirmed by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Sharif’s advisor Rana Sanaullah also admitted that Pakistan had 30 to 45 seconds to assess whether India’s missile aimed at Noor Khan had a nuclear warhead or not. Satellite photos taken in May reportedly showed extensive damage to Pakistani airbases. This includes Noor Khan, Mushaf in Sargodha, Bholadi and Shahbaz in Jacobabad. On May 10, Pakistan had admitted to targeting three airbases with Indian missiles and drones.
