19 -year -old spin bowler Fraya Sergeant of Ireland has decided to take an indefinite break from international cricket due to personal reasons. Cricket Ireland’s High Performance Director Graeme West supported Sergeant’s decision. She described the good of the players as priority and said, “Freya has been an important member of the Senior Performance Team for the last three years. She has been making significant contribution both inside and outside the field. Frayya has been an integral part of the team.”
He said, “Cricket Ireland will continue to support Freya. The team management unit agrees that this is the best option for Freya. The health of the players is paramount for us. It has been kept above everything else.”
Recently, Sergeant returned to the Irish team after recovery from injury. She participated in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup European qualifier in August. He is also given a full -time contract in Ireland’s latest central contracted players list.
Frayya Sergeant made his international debut in the year 2023. He played 16 matches in ODI format, with 19 hunting with an average of 39.57. At the same time, he took 14 wickets with 26.50 in 16 T20 matches.
This spinner was nominated for the ‘ICC Women Emerging Cricketer of the Year Award’ in the year 2024. Freya Sergeant was on a tour of India in January 2025. He played three ODIs against Team India in Rajkot, taking two wickets. Apart from India, he has also played 3-3 ODIs against England, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. At the same time, Fraya has played 2-2 matches against Scotland and Zimbabwe.
On 27 August 2025, he took 3 wickets for 38 runs in the T20 match against Italy.
