Atrocities on minorities in Pakistan, priest shot in front of daughter, fear among Christians

The leading human rights organization of the minority community on Tuesday expressed strong objection to the killing of a priest in Pakistan. This incident, which comes just two months after a failed assassination attempt on the same person, highlights the insecurity of religious minorities in Pakistan.

Pastor shot in front of daughter

According to The Voice of Pakistan Minority (VOPM), he was attacked on 5 December. The attack took place when Pastor Kamran had just left home to drop his daughter to college.

According to the organization, as soon as Kamran moved towards his car, miscreants riding a bike came from the front and fired several bullets at him from close range. He was immediately taken to the district hospital in Gujranwala in Punjab province where he died during treatment. According to the human rights organization, the entire Christian community is in shock after this incident. Kamran leaves behind his wife Salmina and three children.

Violence against minorities is not ending in Pakistan

According to VOPM, this incident is very sad because Kamran dedicated his entire life to the service of human life. Violence was committed against him in the month of October itself. Just two months ago he was fired upon by some radicals in Islamabad. He was injured during that time but was saved.

The organization said, “This brutal murder has further horrified Christians in Pakistan, a community already living under the shadow of violence. Pastor Kamran’s death is not an isolated incident, but part of a growing pattern of attacks on those who muster the courage to stand up for their faith in the face of adversity. The pain and loss felt by his family is echoing in the hearts of many who knew him and the communities he served.” Is.”

The human rights organization says that although the police has started investigation, there is little hope of justice due to the indifference of the local administration. It further said, “The murder of Pastor Kamran shows that religious minorities are marginalized in Pakistan and the non-punishment of those responsible for these heinous acts indicates the helplessness of this society.”
