Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made a statement about the country’s democracy and India-China relations in Colombia. He said that democracy is being attacked in India. The Congress leader said that we cannot suppress people like China.
In a dialogue program at EIA University, Columbia, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “There are many religions, traditions and languages in India. A democratic system provides a place for everyone, but the democratic system is currently being attacked from all sides.”
What did Rahul Gandhi say about India and China?
During the program, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was asked whether India and China are ready to lead the world in the next 50 years? To this he said, “I don’t know about China, but I don’t think India considers itself to be the leading one. India is a neighbor of China and a close partner of America. We are sitting in exactly the place where the two forces are hitting each other.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “India can give a lot to the world and it is very optimistic, but at the same time there are some flaws and risks in the Indian structure that India will have to overcome. The biggest risk is the attack on democracy. India is the center of dialogue among all its people. Different traditions, religions and ideas are needed and the best way to build that place is democratic system.”
He said, “The second risk is a rift between different parts of the country. There are about 16-17 different languages and different religions. Let these different traditions flourish, give them instead of their expression, it is very important for India. We cannot do what China does-suppressing people and running a powerful system. Our system will not accept it.”
‘Despite economic development, we are unable to give jobs’
Rahul Gandhi said, “Despite the economic development in India, we are unable to provide jobs because our economy is dependent on the service sector and we are unable to manufacture. In America, most people with Trump are those who have lost their jobs in the manufacturing sector. China has demonstrated production in a non-Loktantic environment, but we need a democratic structure. We need a democratic structure. One has to develop a model that can compete with China. “
