Auto driver’s daughter Meenakshi Hooda secures final ticket in World Boxing Championship


World Boxing Championship: Meenakshi Hooda, daughter of an auto driver, has entered the finals in the World Boxing Championship going on at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida. Meenakshi (48 kg) has defeated Bak Cho-Rong of Korea 5-0. Arundhati Chaudhary, making a comeback at the international level, has defeated three-time World Cup medalist Leonie Muller. Meenakshi, Ankush Fungal, Parveen and Nupur all secured their places in the finals.

Arundhati’s strong comeback after one and a half years

Former world champion Arundhati was competing after one and a half years. Won the initial two rounds with complete aggression. The German player has been shown the way out in the second round. Arundhati said, “I have made a comeback at the international level after one and a half years, and I am very happy to be back with an RSC win. Other Indian boxers also showed strength

Ankush Fungal (80 kg) has defeated Marlon Sevehon of Australia 5-0. While Nupur (80 kg) has defeated Maria Lovchinska of Ukraine. Parveen (60 kg) pulled off the biggest upset of the day and demonstrated her strong grip in the ring by defeating Poland’s World Boxing Cup silver medalist Rygelska Aneta Elzbieta in a tough match 3-2.

There will be exciting matches ahead

Preeti (54 kg) will face a tough challenge against Olympic medalist and three-time world champion Huang Hsiao-Wen. While Sweety Boora (75 kg) will face Australia’s Emma-Sue Gretry. Similarly, Narendra and Naveen will also be seen trying to make it to the finals. Abhinash Jamwal will start his campaign playing against Alvin Aliyev of Ukraine.
