Babar Azam flopped, out for zero in the first T20 against South Africa, missed breaking Rohit’s record.

Babar Azam, who played T20 for Pakistan for the first time after December 2024, was a flop. Babar Azam, who came to bat at number three in the first T20 played against South Africa in Rawalpindi, could not even open his account.

South Africa had given a big target of 195 runs to Pakistan to win. Pakistan got a good start of 31 runs for the first wicket. Pakistan team management expected a big innings from Babar, who was sent at number three, but he could not even open the account and was out on the second ball of his innings. Corbyn Bosh got him caught by Reza Hendrix.

With his dismissal on zero, Babar Azam missed out on breaking Rohit Sharma’s record of scoring most runs in T20. Rohit has scored 4,231 runs in T20. Babar Azam has 4,223 runs. By scoring 9 runs, he could have made the record of scoring most runs in International T20. He will have this chance in the next match. Rohit Sharma has retired from T20.

After Babar Azam’s slow batting and Pakistan’s poor performance in major tournaments under his captaincy and defeats against smaller teams, he and wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan were dropped from the T20 format. Babar Azam has returned to this format after almost 10 months, but his performance remained disappointing. If Babar Azam flops in the next two T20 matches, then it may be very difficult for him to retain his place in T20. Rizwan has not been successful in making a comeback in T20.
