Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may soon announce its team for the 2025 Asia Cup (Asia Cup 2025). It is reported that star batsman and former captain Babar Azam may return to the T20 team. According to the report, Babar Azam may return to the T20 team due to the injury of Fakhar Zaman. Fakhar Zaman suffered a hamstring injury during the recent T20 series against the West Indies, due to which he is out of the limited overs series against the Caribbean team. The PCB has directed Fakhar to report the rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. Now Fakhar is also said to be difficult to play in the 2025 Asia Cup.
Babar Azam will get a chance instead of Fakhar Zaman?
According to the report of Cricket Pakistan, if Babar Azam performs well in the ODI series against the West Indies, then he may return to the T20 team. Babar Azam is a strong contender for the replacement of injured Fakhar Zaman. Apart from this, it has also been said in the report that Babar Azam met PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi in the T20 series against the West Indies. This meeting shows that Babur is included in the plan of Pakistan’s T20 setup.
Pakistan has to play TRAI series before Asia Cup
The 2025 Asia Cup is to start from 9 September. Earlier, Pakistan has to play a tri -series, which includes teams from Afghanistan and UAE. This tri -series will be played between August 29 to September 7. Each team will play two matches and the final will be played on 7 September. This tri -series will be played in UAE’s Sharjah. The Asia Cup will be held on the grounds of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
