The report said that according to a reliable source of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is not happy with the performance of the Pakistan team in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The report quoted a source as saying, “Mohsin Naqvi is not at all happy, because this time he was assured by the selectors, the team management and his close associates on the board that the team would perform well in the World Cup.”
According to the source, Mohsin Naqvi has made up his mind to remove Salman Ali Aga from the T20 captaincy. Along with this, he will have a clear discussion with head coach Mike Hesson and the selectors about the future of some players. The source said, “Apart from Salman Aga, the T20 international careers of Babar Azam, Usman Khan and some other players may also come to an end after the World Cup.”
The command of Pakistan’s T20 team can be handed over to Shadab Khan or Shaheen Afridi. The names of Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi are being considered in the race for captaincy. However, the names of either of them have not been approved yet. The source also said that even before the World Cup, Hesson had indicated to Naqvi that after the tournament, Pakistan would have to establish some young players by including them in the team and move ahead as per the requirements of modern T20 cricket.
