The new Baggage Rules, which came into effect from 2 February 2026, have brought great relief for international travellers, especially those coming to India. Now the duty-free allowance has been increased to ₹75,000, allowing travelers to bring more luggage without extra tax. Clarity has also been given regarding gold jewellery—female passengers can bring jewelery up to 40 grams and male passengers up to 20 grams duty-free. Apart from this, electronics, personal laptops and notepads are also now included in the duty-free category, which is quite practical for frequent flyers and working professionals. Overall, these new rules are more flexible, transparent and in line with international standards, making the travel experience smooth and hassle-free.
