Bajrang punia apology: Olympic medalist wrestler and Congress leader Bajrang Poonia has apologized unconditionally to coach Naresh Dahiya. After this, the Delhi court closed the ongoing criminal defamation case against Poonia.

Dahiya had claimed that Bajrang Poonia, along with other wrestlers and people, had made objectionable remarks against him at a press conference during a protest at Jantar Mantar on 10 May 2023 against former head of the Indian Wrestling Federation (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Tokyo Games bronze medalist Bajrang, along with Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, protested against Brij Bhushan Singh. He alleged that Singh had sexually harassed many junior women wrestlers.
What did Bajrang Poonia say in the apology?
According to news agency PTI, Bajrang Poonia said in his apology, “I apologize unconditionally to Naresh Dahiya. I made publicly wrong and insensitive statements against him during a press conference held at Jantar Mantar during the movement.”
He said, “I express deep regrets for the suffering and injury to his loved ones due to the damage to the image of Naresh Dahiya and the wrong and insensitive statement given by me.”
Bajrang Poonia said, “I say that Dahiya is a prestigious coach and he has given his best to the country.” I once again repeat my regret and apologize to Dahiya and his loved ones.
Wrestling coach Dahiya runs an arena for male wrestlers in the Shahabad Dairy area of Delhi.
