Now either the Balochistan Liberation Army, which fought for the freedom of Balochistan, will be destroyed forever or Balochistan will break away from Pakistan and become a separate country. Because after the Operation Hereof conducted by the Balochistan Liberation Army and after which the Pakistani Army has selectively killed the people of BLA, there is no other scenario in sight. Today, there will be a clear cut discussion about Balochistan, which has become a sore spot for Pakistan and whose independence is being dreamed of not only by the Baloch but also by more than half of the population of India for the last several decades.

In Baloch language there is a word used for severe storm. It is called Herof. If understood in English, it is Black Storm. That is, a storm which is extremely destructive and in front of which even the strongest thing cannot stand. Pakistan Army is the strongest in front of Balochistan Liberation Army which fought for the freedom of Balochistan. And the armed operation started by the Baloch people to fight this Pakistani Army was named Operation Herof.

In the second phase of Operation Hereof, which started on the evening of 31 January 2026, the Balochistan Liberation Army carried out the biggest and most deadly attacks in its history. BLA simultaneously carried out bomb blasts in several districts of Balochistan, namely Quetta, Gwadar, Mastung and Noshki. For this operation, BLA fielded all the units of its army like fidayeen attackers, Majeed Brigade, Fateh Squad, Intelligence Wing and special tactical teams. All of them together created havoc in entire Balochistan. Captured government banks, freed jail prisoners, set fire to many government offices and captured many Pakistani Army bases.

The biggest and deadliest attack was carried out by two female suicide bombers of BLA, whose videos and photos have gone viral on social media. Majeed Brigade’s fidayeen Asifa Mengal blew herself up by targeting the Noshki camp of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. So Hawa Baloch fired indiscriminately on the Pakistani army and after killing the soldiers, he also blew himself up in a bomb blast. After these attacks, BLA issued a statement saying that 200 soldiers of Pakistan have been killed in this attack. 18 soldiers have been taken prisoner and have expanded their occupation in areas like Quetta, Nushki, Kalat, Dalbadin, Kharan, Panjgur, Gwadar and Pashani.

At the same time, Pakistani Army also responded to this operation of BLA. And gave such a reply that the back of Balochistan Liberation Army was broken. While carrying out Operation Herof, 18 BLA fighters had already been killed, among which were 11 suicide bombers from the Majeed Brigade alone. Apart from this, 4 fighters of Fateh Squad and 3 fighters of STOS Unit were also killed during the operation. But when the Pakistani army also started killing, it killed more than 150 BLA fighters. During this entire operation and retaliation, more than 50 civilians have been killed, which has not only exposed the failure of the Pakistani Army but has also raised serious questions on the Balochistan Liberation Army. Because internet had to be shut down in the entire area. Trains were stopped, there was traffic jam on the roads and the whole of Quetta looked deserted.

In such a situation the question arises what next? This war in Balochistan is very old and sometimes the Baloch Liberation Army dominates and sometimes the Pakistani Army. But the loser in the fight between these two is the common Pakistani, who needs a permanent solution. In such a situation, what is the way and the answer is found in the history and geography of Balochistan, in which China is more interested than India.

History says that the freedom struggle that Balochistan is currently fighting for was actually an independent country before 1948. It was formed by combining four different princely states. Kalat, Makran, Las Bela and Kharan. When India and Pakistan were divided, just as there were many princely states in India, similarly there were many princely states in Pakistan. And those concessions also wanted to live separately and not go to Pakistan. But just as all the princely states in India were merged on the initiative of Sardar Patel, similarly Pakistan also got the princely states merged. Three princely states of Balochistan, i.e. Makran, Las Bela and Kharan immediately agreed to merge with Pakistan.

Ahmed Yar Khan, the head of Kalat state, was not ready for merger. He called Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah as his father, but he also wanted Kalat to become a separate country and not go with Pakistan. But there was pressure from Pakistan, so after long negotiations, on 27 March 1948, Ahmed Yar Khan accepted the terms of merger with Pakistan. But Ahmed Yar Khan’s brothers Prince Abdul Karim and Prince Mohammad Rahim rebelled.

Both the rebel brothers together formed an army of about one thousand fighters and named it Dosht-e-Jhalawan. The army of these two brothers started attacking the Pakistani Army. Pakistani army retaliated. And both the brothers ran away to Afghanistan. But Afghanistan also did not help them. So he had to return to Kalat. As soon as they arrived here, the Pakistani Army arrested both of them and sent them to jail. This was the first time when there was a rebellion in Balochistan and it was crushed by the Pakistani Army.

But the thought of independence continued to flourish in the minds of Baloch people. Sometimes Nawab Nowroz Khan led the rebels and sometimes Sher Mohammad Bijrani Mari used guerrilla war techniques to instigate the Baloch people. But the rebels never achieved success. Finally, in 1970, Pakistani President Yahya Khan declared Balochistan as the fourth province of West Pakistan. Because of this, the people of Balochistan became even more enraged. The remaining task was completed by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and in 1973, he dissolved the government of Balochistan and imposed martial law there.

It has been 54 years since this happened. And in these 42 years there has never been peace in Balochistan. Because in these 52 years, different groups keep demanding independence of Balochistan, keep taking up arms, keep attacking Pakistani Army and Pakistani people and Pakistan considers these attackers as terrorists. Even now, there are at least 20 such groups including Balochistan of Iran, Balochistan of Afghanistan and Balochistan of Pakistan, which are terrorists for the governments of these countries. For example, the responsibility for the terrorist attack that has just taken place in Pakistan has been taken by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which is currently the largest Baloch terrorist group in Pakistan. Apart from this, there are organizations like Balochistan Liberation Front BLF, Lashkar-e-Balochistan, Balochistan Liberation, United Front, Baloch Students Organization, Baloch Nationalist Army, Baloch Republican Army and United Baloch Army, which keep fighting for the independence of Balochistan.

In Balochistan itself, there are different groups on the basis of religion, among which there are Shia and Sunni. Like Ansar-ul-Furkan is a Sunni Baloch militant group and a terrorist organization for Iran. Apart from this, groups like Jaish-ul-Adal, Harkat-Ansar, Hizbul-Furakan, Islamic State, ISIS-Khorasan, Tehreek-e-Taliban, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Shahaba are also notorious for terrorist attacks in Balochistan. Now, if we talk about the Arabian Sea’s border with Balochistan and its being the reason for terrorist attacks in Balochistan, then the end of its story is connected to China, which is building the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with Pakistan. And this CPEC passes through Balochistan, which has Gwadar Port and China is working on such a big project only to get access to this Gwadar Port. In such a situation, the people of Balochistan who already want independence from Pakistan, now see China as another threat to them. Therefore, whenever they get a chance, the organizations of Balochistan keep attacking China and sometimes Pakistan so that CPEC is never completed.

But the question is that China, which has so far spent about 25 to 30 billion dollars on CPEC, will withdraw its hands only fearing the rebels of Balochistan. Or to fulfill China’s real objective, it will go to any extent. Because Balochistan is not just what is visible on the surface, there is a huge reserve of natural gas, copper, gold and rare minerals in Balochistan, about which China is well aware. And it is obvious that when so many things are present in the place where China’s money is invested, then it will definitely do something to recover its money. Therefore, China has stopped the funding of CPEC and has said that unless security is provided, no money will be received. And Pakistan definitely needs money, hence the only solution for Pakistan is to completely destroy the insurgent groups of Balochistan and especially the BLA. China is helping for this. It has provided drones and facial recognition technology to Pakistan so that the Pakistani Army can identify BLA fighters. At the request of China, America and Britain have declared BLA as a terrorist group. China has also asked Afghanistan and Iran to help crush the BLA.

But China is not the only one who is helping Pakistan. Even America has to help Pakistan, because America is also eyeing the huge reserves of natural gas, copper, gold and rare minerals in Balochistan. It has announced an investment of $1.25 billion for mining projects in Reko Diq area of Balochistan. And it is clear that when America invests money and starts its projects, it will also protect them.

In such a situation, the Balochistan Liberation Army which was currently fighting only the Pakistan Army, may have to fight with the Chinese Army and also the American Army in the coming days. Because even though Pakistan and its army have stopped the deployment of Chinese army in Balochistan citing their sovereignty, but when China’s loss becomes bigger, it will definitely deploy its army. And then America will also get a chance to deploy army in the name of security of its projects in Pakistan. Because Laden’s death is the most perfect example of how the American army enters Pakistan and operates. In such a situation, if the Baloch fighters fighting with the Pakistani army till now will face the army of China or America in the coming days, then they will hardly be able to last even for a few hours and even if the Baloch are destroyed, Balochistan may remain with Pakistan, but the real rule there will be of China and America, which India will never want.

Because Gwadar, which is a part of Balochistan, could have belonged to India at one time. Because at the time of formation of Pakistan i.e. in 1947 when Makran had agreed to merge with Pakistan, even then Gwadar Port could not belong to Pakistan. At that time this port was ruled by the Sultan of Oman, which was a foreign principality of Oman. But in the 1950s, the then Sultan of Oman Saeed bin Taimur wanted to sell his kingdom. As a buyer, the first offer he made was to India. Even then relations between India and Oman used to be very good. But then Prime Minister Nehru, who was dreaming of developing the newly independent country, said that Gwadar is far from India, which will be difficult to handle. In such a situation, the Sultan of Oman talked to Pakistan. And at that time Pakistan bought it from Oman by paying about three million dollars. Gwadar became part of Pakistan on 8 September 1958.

Now call it lack of foresight or the circumstances of that time, if Gwadar had been India’s responsibility, China would never have been able to build CPEC in Pakistan. And the Indian Army would have been deployed on the sea front, one end of which meets Pakistan. This is the reason why when India got the opportunity, it invested in Chabahar of Afghanistan so that the loss suffered due to Gwadar could be compensated. Now when Balochistan is burning and China and America along with Pakistan want to suppress that rebellion, then India can only wait for the Baloch to succeed in their objective, whose war they have been fighting since 1947.
