Ranveer Singh’s new film Dhurandhar has made a great start at the box office, but some parts of the story have created a new controversy. The Baloch community is deeply hurt by the way the incidents related to Pakistan and Balochistan were portrayed in the film. Baloch activist Mir Yar Baloch called it damaging to the image of his society.
Expressing his objection on the social media platform X, Mir Yar Baloch wrote that in the film, Baloch people have been presented as if they are involved in anti-India actions. He says that Baloch never supported any terrorist incident like 26/11. On the contrary, they themselves face violence and repression sponsored by Pakistan. He said that many of the scenes shown in the film are completely contrary to the Baloch identity and have no connection with reality.

People angry over dialogue
In a dialogue of the film it is said that one can trust the crocodile, not the Baloch. This became the cause of most controversy. According to Mir Yar, this dialogue is a direct attack on the dignity of Baloch society. He told that loyalty is considered supreme here and betrayal is not a part of their culture. He said that it is a great injustice to show the Baloch community as untrustworthy.
Lack of research is clearly visible in the film – Baloch activist
Mir Yar also accused the filmmakers of not trying to understand Baloch history and political circumstances. According to him, Baloch movement, society and culture have been shown in a very superficial manner. He sarcastically said that if Baloch were criminals with so many resources then why would Baloch areas remain surrounded by poverty and conflict? The real smuggling and illegal trade is carried out by Pakistan and not by the Baloch.
Debate intensifies on social media, success of the film continues
Dhurandhar is continuously performing well among the audience, but the controversy has sparked a new discussion on social media. Many people believe that fact-checking is extremely important when portraying sensitive political topics in films. The Baloch community says that the false offer not only tarnishes their image but also weakens their genuine fight for freedom.
