The pride of Varanasi music, classical singer Pandit Chhannulal Mishra is no longer among us. At the age of 89, he said goodbye to the world. After prolonged illness, Chhannulal Mishra died on Thursday (October 2) in Mirzapur on the morning of 4.17. He was fighting with a disease called septicemia. He had an attack about 3 weeks ago.
It is being told that earlier he was admitted in BHU in Varanasi. After investigation here, it was found that Chhannulal Mishra had an infection in the chest and there was also a shortage of blood. Treatment went there for about 3 weeks, after which he was discharged from there. Then his daughter Namrata Mishra brought him to the Ramakrishna Service Mission Hospital, the ex -Ramakrishna Seva Mission Hospital.
Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan are honored
Pandit Chhannulal Mishra was born on 3 August 1936 in Azamgarh. He chose Varanasi as his Karmabhoomi. Chhannulal Mishra has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan in the year 2020, the Padma Bhushan in 2010 with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 2000. At the same time, during Akhilesh Yadav’s government in 2010, he was also awarded the Yash Bharti Award.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to contest from Varanasi seat for the first time in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Chhannulal Mishra became his proponent.
There will be funeral in Varanasi
Chhannulal Mishra has been the top grade artist in All India Radio and Doordarshan. Pandit Chhannulal Mishra was also a member of the Ministry of Culture (North-Central) Government. According to family sources, Pandit Chhannulal Mishra will be cremated in Varanasi.

Padma Vibhushan Chhannulal Mishra was a veteran artist who enriched our country with Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti and Bhajan singing. Chhannulal Mishra took classical music to the common man with his unique style. There is deep mourning in the music world with his death.
