An earthquake of 4.1 magnitude was felt in Bangladesh on Thursday (4 December 2025) in the morning. Its effect was seen in the capital Dhaka and neighboring districts. The mild earthquake felt at around 6.14 in the morning forced people to come out of their homes, but the matter of relief was that no damage was reported from anywhere. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, its epicenter was about 30 kilometers away in Narsingdi district. Due to light depth, the tremors were not strong, hence no major problems were seen.
The moment tremors were felt in the city and surrounding districts, people got scared for a few moments. Dhaka administration said that neither there has been any crack in any building nor any case of injury to any person has come to light. People have definitely become alert due to continuous seismic activities in the last few days, but this time the situation remained completely under control."text-align: justify;">Dhaka resides in a high-risk area
Geology experts say that Bangladesh is located at the confluence of three major tectonic plates. This is the reason why this area is always in danger of earthquake. Dhaka is counted among those cities of the world where earthquake risk remains at a high level. The dilapidated buildings present in old neighborhoods make this danger more serious, because even light tremors can cause damage to them.
The earthquake that occurred a month ago took 10 lives
People’s concern has also increased because the 5.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred exactly a month ago had shaken many areas of Bangladesh. In that incident, 10 people lost their lives and there were cracks in the walls of many houses. A lot of damage was seen in the area between Dhaka and Narsingdi at that time.
