Bangladesh illegal immigration: Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs advisor Tauheed Hussain has made serious allegations against India. He said that he is sending people back to his country without a process by calling people foreigners from India. Bangladesh will send diplomatic letters to India on this.
India started investigating illegal Bangladeshis after the Pahalgam attack of 22 April 2025 and intensified to send them back under Operation Sindoor from 7 May. Every Bangladeshi living illegally in India is being investigated, but Bangladesh’s foreign advisor Tauheed Hussain says that India is sending people across the border without the process. He said, “We will send a new letter. We know that this is happening, but we cannot stop it.”
What did Tauheed Hussain say about illegal migrants?
According to a report by the Times of India, India has given Bangladesh a list of some illegal migrants, which are being considered Bangladeshi. In this regard, Tauheed Hussain said that Bangladesh has also accepted some illegal migrants after investigation. He told that there is a process for consular issues and Bangladesh is following it. Regular talks are happening with India. He further said that no new reply was received on the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The second letter has not been sent yet, but it can be sent if needed.
16 illegal Bangladeshi arrested from Delhi
On June 2, a joint team of Foreigners Cell and Special Staff of Delhi Police arrested 16 illegal Bangladeshi citizens in the Seemapuri area of Shahdara. These include 4 men, 5 women and 7 children. They all entered India illegally.
During interrogation, it was found that many Bangladeshi citizens caught came to India 18-19 years ago. He told that due to lack of financial constraints and employment, he crossed the border in the dark of night and entered India. After crossing the border, he first reached Cooch Behar in West Bengal, then came to Delhi by train. After some time he moved to the villages of Haryana, where he started wages on brick kilns. Due to these kilns being in far-flung areas, they did not see anyone for a long time.
