The matches of T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in India and Sri Lanka. In this tournament, Pakistan’s matches will be played in Sri Lanka, because last year there was an agreement between BCCI and PCB to hold India-Pakistan matches at neutral venues. Now Bangladesh is also adopting the same attitude as Pakistan, because the news has come out that Bangladesh team will not come to India to play T20 World Cup. Asif Nazrul, who is the sports advisor of Bangladesh, has confirmed through social media that the Bangladesh team will not come to India.
This decision has been taken in the recent meeting of Bangladesh Cricket Board. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s stand on this has not been revealed yet.
Bangladesh’s sports advisor Asif Nazrul wrote through social media, “Bangladesh team will not go to India to play the World Cup. Today the Bangladesh Cricket Board has taken this decision. We welcome this decision, which has been taken in the context of the violent communal policy of BCCI.”
BCB has taken this decision after Mustafizur Rahman’s exit from IPL. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India had instructed the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman from their squad. Following this instruction, the KKR franchise has removed Rahman from its team.
Recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board had released its domestic cricket schedule, which also includes the series against India in September 2026. Earlier this series was scheduled to take place in 2025, but at that time the series was postponed.
Talking about T20 World Cup, India has been placed in Group A and Bangladesh in Group C. India will play its first match against USA on 7th February and Bangladesh will start its World Cup campaign with a match against West Indies on 7th February. Now it will also be interesting to see whether, like Pakistan, Bangladesh’s matches will also be played outside the T20 World Cup host country i.e. India.
