The Bangladesh government has officially confirmed that the Bangladesh cricket team will not play in the 2026 T20 World Cup to be held in India. Bangladesh team has decided to boycott the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh government says that ICC has rejected its demand to shift the T20 World Cup matches. Besides, the government has also targeted the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Recently, Bangladesh’s sports advisor Asif Nazrul said that Bangladeshi players want to play T20 World Cup, but the team will play its matches only in Sri Lanka.
ICC’s loss is not ours in this
The Bangladesh government issued a statement saying that they are not sure about the status of world cricket, but the popularity of the game is definitely declining. They have imprisoned 20 crore people. Cricket is going to the Olympics, but if a country like Bangladesh does not participate, then ICC is at a loss.
It was also said that the Bangladesh government will be in constant touch with the ICC, because their team wants to play in the World Cup, but will not play in India. ICC was also criticized for taking many shocking decisions in its board meetings.
Statement given on Mustafizur Rahman also
This entire matter came to light after Mustafizur Rahman’s release from the Indian Premier League. Actually, on the instructions of BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders had released Rahman from their squad. KKR had bought Mustafizur for Rs 9.20 crore in the mini auction. Bangladesh government said that Mustafizur’s issue is not an isolated issue. BCCI was the only one to take decision on this.
