There is already tension between India and Bangladesh regarding the killings and atrocities on Hindu community people in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, this controversy has increased further after the exclusion of Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Rizwana Hasan, advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the interim government of Bangladesh led by Mohammad Yunus, has expressed strong objection to this decision.
Apart from this, he threatened and said that our sentiments have been hurt by this decision and we will give a befitting reply to it. At the same time, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has now given his reaction on the threat of Bangladesh government.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor responded by re-sharing a post on social media platform X and said that she was right, regretfully. Actually, in the post, Rizwana Hasan, advisor to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of Bangladesh, was commenting on Mustafizur Rahman’s exit from the team. He said that our sentiments have been hurt and we will give a befitting reply. The reasons being given for Mustafizur’s exit from the team cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
Cultural exchange and sports reduce political pressure – Hasan
Rizwana Hasan said, ‘Whenever there is a situation of political tension between two countries, it helps in reducing it through cultural exchange and sports, but what is happening here (with India) is exactly the opposite. Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman has been dropped from the IPL team due to political reasons between the two countries. Our sentiments have been hurt by this. We will give a befitting reply to this. We cannot at all accept the reasons given for excluding Mustafizur from the team.
He further said, ‘After giving a place in the team, a Bangladeshi player has been shown the way out due to political reasons. This has naturally caused negative reactions among people. In this situation we will also have to take a stand. We are reviewing the legal basis and process for that stand. Necessary steps will be taken on this after complete verification.
