Bangladesh cricket’s own hands are not clean, but it has been blaming India. Actually, another big controversy has arisen in Bangladesh cricket amid the T20 World Cup venue change issue. On January 21, in the second qualifier match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025-26), Sylhet Titans suffered a close defeat by 12 runs at the hands of Rajshahi Warriors. A former official of the Titans team has made serious allegations and said that Sylhet Titans lost the second qualifier match due to match fixing.
Stain of match fixing on BPL
Sylhet Titans team advisor Faheem Al Choudhary claimed match fixing after his team was out of BPL 2025-26. He became emotional after his team’s defeat, meanwhile he resigned from his post in front of the media. Shortly after his resignation, he revealed through social media that a member of the team had sold himself.
Match fixing, betraying the team
During a live session on Facebook, Faheem Al Choudhary said, “Today’s match was tainted. I have received credible information that a player involved in the match sold himself out. He lied to us and betrayed Sylhet Titans. He played with the sentiments of the people of Sylhet. There was no need for him to do this. He could have told me how much money he needed, which we could have arranged. This truth has shocked me.”
What happened in the match?
In the second qualifier match, Rajshahi Warriors, batting first, scored 165 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Sylhet Titans scored 106 runs losing 4 wickets in 13 overs. He needed 60 runs in 42 balls, which can be easily achieved in T20 cricket. But after this the Titans team disintegrated. From 16.3 overs to 17.3 overs, Sylhet Titans team had lost three wickets. In the end he had to face defeat by 12 runs.
