A horrific plane accident took place in Baramati, Maharashtra on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in which the plane carrying NCP leader and state Deputy CM Ajit Pawar crashed while landing at Baramati Airport. According to DGCA, survival of any person on board the plane has not been confirmed. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was also missing in the accident. The accident happened near the runway in the morning.
Supriya Sule’s first reaction
On hearing the news of this accident, Ajit Pawar’s sister and NCP Rajya Sabha MP Supriya Sule immediately left for Baramati from Delhi. He has not said anything to the media till now but a reaction has emerged. According to sources, he expressed his emotional reaction by writing the English word Devastated on his WhatsApp status.

Leaders leave for Baramati
Supriya Sule is the daughter of Sharad Pawar and appears to be Ajit Pawar’s sister. There was distance in relations after the NCP split, but in recent months family relations seemed to be normalizing again. As soon as the information about this accident was received, Ajit Pawar’s uncle and NCP President Sharad Pawar and Deputy CM and Shiv Sena President Eknath Shinde have also left for Baramati. According to eyewitnesses, security agencies have sealed the area and are preparing for investigation. The cockpit voice recorder will be reviewed to understand the pilots’ final conversations and decisions, while official conversations between the pilots and air traffic control will also be examined.
