A case of attempt to commit suicide by Sumitra Baghel, wife of former Chairman of Bastar Development Authority of Chhattisgarh and Congress MLA of Bastar Assembly Lakheshwar Baghel, has come to light. Sumitra Baghel has been admitted in critical condition to the ICU of Maharani Hospital in Jagdalpur, where her condition remains stable.
On the statement taken by the police, Sumitra Baghel said that she was mentally disturbed after the death of her mother in the month of August, after which on Tuesday morning she cut the veins of her hands with a sharp knife and also attacked herself on the neck, due to which she got hurt a lot.

Jagdalpur CSP Sumit Kumar says that in the preliminary investigation and in the statement given by him, it has come to light that he had attempted suicide, the reason for which has been said by him to be mentally ill, at present the police is investigating the case from every aspect. He has suffered serious injury due to knife attack on his neck. Treatment is going on by the doctors, at present his condition remains stable.
