ICC has given a reward of about 4 million US dollars (about Rs 33 crore) to the World Cup winning team. At the same time, BCCI has doubled this happiness and announced to distribute approximately Rs 51 crore among the players and support staff. That means there is a game with a total prize money of around Rs 84 crore.
Who will get how much?
According to media reports, BCCI has decided that an amount of up to Rs 9 crore will be given to each player. The captain and vice-captain may get a little additional amount, while the coaching staff’s share will be Rs 3 to 4 crore. How much will be left after tax?
Now let us come to the part which every Indian understands, tax deduction. Players have to pay up to 30% tax on the prizes they receive. But yes, this amount is also enough to buy several bungalows in a city.
How are ICC awards distributed?
ICC’s money goes directly to the cricket board, and from there it is distributed among the players. The board decides how much amount is given to whom. This time BCCI itself has given a huge bonus from its own pocket, which is the biggest compared to any tournament till now.
