BCCI has announced the 15-member Indian squad for the home T20 series against Sri Lanka. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the team, while Smriti Mandhana is the vice-captain of the team. This will be the Indian team playing its first series after winning the 2025 ODI World Cup.
Shefali Verma has got a place in the T20 team, who replaced Pratika Raval in the knockout matches of ODI World Cup 2025. He has also shown strong performance in domestic cricket. Young wicketkeeper batsman G Kamalini and 19 year old spin bowler Vaishnavi Sharma have got a chance in the team for the first time. Both of them were part of the Indian squad in the Under-19 World Cup this year.
Talking about Vaishnavi Sharma, while playing for Madhya Pradesh in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, she took the most wickets in the tournament. He took 21 wickets in 11 matches. Renuka Thakur has returned to the team, while Sayali Satghare, Radha Yadav and Shuchi Upadhyay have also reserved their places.
The five-match T20 series between Indian and Sri Lankan women’s teams will start from December 21. This series will run till 30th December.
