Just before IPL 2026, BCCI has implemented some new and strict rules for players and teams. Ban has also been imposed on cricketers’ family members and their practice. A new rule has also come regarding purple and orange caps, while players will no longer be able to wear sleeveless jerseys in the post match presentation. List of all the new rules of IPL 2026:
-Open net practice has been banned. Each team will be given 2 nets.
-If one team finishes practice early, the other team will not be able to use its nets.
-On the day of practice, it will be mandatory for the players to come to the field in the team bus.
-Family members are not allowed to accompany the players to the dressing room during practice. Only authorized staff will be able to enter the dressing room.
-If family members wish, they can come to the ground in a separate vehicle and sit in the hospitality area.
-Players have been asked not to hit the ball towards the LED boards. Sitting in front of LED boards will also be prohibited.
-Any player who has an orange cap or purple cap, it will be mandatory for him to wear the cap for at least the first 2 overs.
-Ban on floppy cap and sleeveless jersey and slippers in post match presentation.
-No fitness test will be conducted on the day of the match at the Main Square.
-For breaking the rules, first a warning will be given, then there will be a provision for punishment.
-New protocol regarding match day. There should be only 12 support staff including doctors and each staff member will have to bring an accreditation card.
-If any player wants to change his jersey number, he will have to inform BCCI 24 hours in advance.
