England batsman Ben Duckett has withdrawn his name from IPL 2026. He was supposed to play for Delhi Capitals and could possibly open with KL Rahul, but he has confirmed through social media that he will not be a part of IPL 2026. For this he will have to face a ban of 2 years from the Indian Premier League.
In the mini auction, Delhi Capitals bought Ben Duckett for Rs 2 crore. BCCI had made rules before the mega auction of 2025. Since Duckett has withdrawn his name before the season, he will not be able to play in the IPL for the next two years nor will he be able to participate in the auction.
On withdrawing his name from IPL 2026, Ben Duckett issued a statement and wrote, “I have to take a very difficult decision to withdraw my name from IPL. I have taken this decision after very careful consideration and doing so was not easy for me.”
He said that playing for England has been his childhood dream and he wants to be mentally and physically healthy before the summer season, so that he can give his best for England. He has also apologized to the Delhi Capitals team and its fans. Let us remind you that a few months ago, Ben Duckett’s performance in the Ashes series was disappointing. He was able to score only 202 runs in 10 innings at an average of 20.20.
Even with the departure of Ben Duckett, Delhi Capitals still have many opening options. Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has made it clear that KL Rahul will open this time. Abhishek Porel, Prithvi Shaw and Pathum Nissanka are also present in the squad to become his partner.
