The famous Parappana Agrahara Central Jail of Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru is once again in the headlines. On Sunday (9 November 2025), some such videos surfaced on social media, which raised serious questions on the jail administration system. In the viral video, an alleged ISIS recruiter Zuhab Hameed Shakeel Manna and rape convict Umesh Reddy are seen watching TV and using mobile phones in their cells. After the video came out, the state government has ordered immediate action.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed strong displeasure over this incident. He held a high-level meeting with the Home Minister and reprimanded the jail department. CM said that responsible officers will not be spared under any circumstances. Siddaramaiah said that this is negligence. We have ordered an investigation to find out who provided such facilities to these prisoners from inside.

DGP B. Dayanand gave instructions for investigation
Jail Director General B. Dayanand has formed a special team to investigate the viral video. He has ordered that the video be investigated. It should be found out which officers or employees are involved in this. He said that if internal collusion is proved then immediate suspension and disciplinary action will be taken.
VIP facility inside the jail
Investigation has revealed that Juhab Hameed not only had the facility to watch TV, but he also had a smartphone. On the other hand, Umesh Reddy is serving life imprisonment in murder and rape cases. He also has two Android phones and a kitchen. Sources reveal that Tarun Raju, accused in the gold smuggling case, was also living a luxurious life in jail. He also had a mobile phone and a TV.

His pictures while smoking coffee and cigarette went viral. Then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had suspended 9 officers and ordered to send Darshan to another jail.
