Four people died, while many others were injured in a horrific road accident that took place on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) in Navgachia, Bhagalpur. A police officer gave this information.
About 10 people were injured in the accident
Navgachia SP Prerna Kumar said that the accident took place near Bagri bridge of Jhandapur police station area, where there was a head-on collision between a private bus, magic vehicle and a CNG auto. The collision was so severe that four people died on the spot. He told that about ten people were injured in the accident. Eight seriously injured people have been referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH) Bhagalpur for better treatment, while other injured are being treated at Navgachia Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Bodies sent for post mortem
The SP said that the process of identifying the dead and injured is going on. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. The accident vehicles have been confiscated. He said that in the preliminary investigation, high speed and careless driving appear to be the possible causes of the accident. However, a detailed investigation is being conducted to find out the actual cause of the incident. Police said that after the accident, traffic was affected for some time, which was later restored.
According to police sources, the four deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Arvind Mandal, resident of Sameli in Katihar district, Kunal Kumar, six-year-old son of Aman Nishad, resident of Marar (Morkahi) in Khagaria district, 35-year-old Purmi Devi and her husband Sunil Das, 40, resident of Bhitta village of Ismailpur police station area of Bhagalpur district.
The injured were told to be out of danger.
Bhagalpur District Magistrate Naval Kishore Chaudhary, after seeing the injured admitted in JLNMCH, told reporters that the injured are being treated well. All senior doctors of JLNMCH are present. The injured are out of danger. The District Magistrate has also confirmed the death of four people.
