Bhanvi Singh, wife of Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, leader of Jansatta Dal Loktantrik and MLA from Kunda in Uttar Pradesh, has got a big relief from the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. The court has put an interim stay on the ongoing trial process against Bhanvi Singh on charges of defamation and insulting the dignity of a woman.

The court has also ordered to issue notice to Sadhvi Singh, sister of Raja Bhaiya and his wife Bhanvi Singh. The court has given three weeks time for the next hearing of the case. This order was given by the single bench of Justice Saurabh Lavania on the petition of Bhanvi Kumari Singh.

In fact, it was argued on behalf of petitioner Bhanvi Singh that her husband Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya has filed a divorce case in the family court. A written reply was filed on behalf of Bhanvi Singh on the said case.

‘FIR registered on the basis of channel’s news’

The petitioner’s lawyer has said that his (Bhanvi Singh) written reply was broadcast by a channel. On the basis of the same news, Bhanvi Singh’s sister Sadhvi Singh has lodged an FIR against Bhanvi and two other persons.

Case proceedings cannot be published – Court

The court has commented in this case that there is a clear provision in the Family Court Act and the Hindu Marriage Act that the proceedings of any Family Court case cannot be published or printed.

Possibility of mediation in dispute between two sisters- Court

However, the petitioner’s advocate has also argued that only a complaint could have been filed against the allegations made by the petitioner. On this, the court said in its order, “The dispute is between two sisters, so there may be a possibility of mediation.” With these comments, the court has stayed the ongoing case against Bhanvi Singh till the next hearing.
