If you use FASTag, then this update is important for you. From February 1, 2026, NHAI has simplified the KYV (Know Your Vehicle) process for 4-wheelers. Now after FASTag is activated, it will not be necessary for every user to do KYV. The purpose of KYV is to verify the FASTag with the correct vehicle and owner, so that misuse or duplication can be prevented. Under the new rule, this responsibility will be of banks instead of users. Only banks will complete the verification before issuing FASTag. With this change, the use of FASTag will become easier and hassle-free. Existing users will also not need to do KYV for everyday use, this process will be applicable only in some specific complaints or loose FASTag cases.
