Which candidates got relief in UPTET?
After the revised notification issued by UPESSC, now non-tet teachers and students doing teacher training courses will also be able to apply. Earlier only final year or passed out candidates were considered eligible, but now this scope has been expanded. Apart from this, all the trainees doing Diploma in Elementary Education, irrespective of which semester they are in, will be eligible to apply. Besides, already working assistant teachers have also been allowed to appear in the examination.
Change came after the decision of the Supreme Court
This change in UPTET notification has been made as per the instructions of the Supreme Court. In September 2025, the court had made it mandatory for teachers to pass TET. In such a situation, there were a large number of teachers who were not able to apply earlier due to the eligibility criteria. They have got relief after the amendment. Apart from this, under the new rules, candidates doing or passing B.Ed will now be able to appear in the examination. But they will be considered eligible only for upper primary level i.e. class 6 to 8. They will not be eligible for the primary level. The conditions for bridge course which were there earlier have also been removed. It is believed that after these changes, there may be a big increase in the number of candidates applying. It is estimated that this time 15 to 20 lakh applications may come. This also includes about 1.6 lakh teachers of the state who have not yet passed TET and it has become necessary for them to pass it.
