Pushkar Singh Dhami government of Uttarakhand has taken a big and important decision in the education system of the state. The government has decided to abolish the Madrasa Board. Now Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will work in place of Madrasa Board. After the approval of the Governor, the government has issued the notification for the formation of this new authority. This decision is being considered as the beginning of a new phase in the minority education system of the state.

According to the notification issued by the government, appointments have been made to a total of 11 posts including the Chairman in Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority. Dr. Surjit Singh Gandhi, retired professor of BSM PG College, Roorkee, has been made the chairman of this authority. The government says that this authority will now decide the direction and condition of all the minority educational institutions in the state.

Why was the Madrasa Board abolished?

Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Special Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, said that in the last assembly session, a bill related to abolishing the Madrasa Board was passed. After this, a new authority has been formed on the instructions of the Governor. The government believes that this step was necessary for a uniform and better education system.

What will be the work of the new authority?

The main work of Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will be to operate and monitor madrassa institutions and other minority educational institutions. This authority will decide what will be the nature of education in these institutions and what will be the structure of the syllabus. The government says that improving the quality of education will be the main objective of this authority.

new rule of recognition

All minority educational institutions coming under the new authority will now have to take recognition from the Uttarakhand Board of School Education. This means that now madrasas or other minority institutions will not be under a separate system, but will be linked to the main education system of the state. This will make it easier for students to pursue further studies and career.

When will the new system be implemented?

According to Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will come into full existence from July 1, 2026. From this date, this new authority will start functioning in place of the Madrasa Board. The government says that all necessary preparations will be completed during this period.

Who will be the members of the board?

Many well-known educationists and officials have been included in this authority board formed on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Apart from Chairman Dr. Surjit Singh Gandhi, Prof. Rakesh Jain, Dr. Syed Ali, Prof. Pema Tenzin, Dr. Alba Madrile, Prof. Robina Aman, Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Rajendra Bisht and retired IAS officer Chandrashekhar Bhatt have been made members.

Along with this, Director General of School Education, Director of State Educational Research and Director of Minority Welfare will also be members of this authority. This board will together take all important decisions related to education.

Focus will also be on syllabus

The new authority will not be limited to just monitoring institutions. It will also decide the syllabus of minority educational institutions. The government says that the syllabus will be such that students can connect with modern education and do not lag behind in further studies or jobs.
