While thousands of people have been affected by the recent massive floods and landslides in West Bengal, important educational documents of many students have also been destroyed or lost. In view of the problems of these students, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has taken a big and relief step.
The Council has announced that students whose registration certificates, admit cards, mark sheets or pass certificates have been lost due to the recent floods or landslides, will be provided duplicate copies of these documents absolutely free of cost.
Why was this decision taken?
People have suffered huge losses due to recent floods and landslides in many parts of the state. School documents of many students were washed away or destroyed. In view of this serious situation, the Council has taken this decision on humanitarian grounds so that the education or future of any student is not affected due to this disaster. The Council has clarified that this decision has been taken only on the basis of humanity.
How to get duplicate certificate?
To avail this facility, students will have to apply through the head of their institute. Along with the application, the Principal must certify that the student has lost or destroyed his or her original documents due to flood or landslide.
That is, no student can send the application directly to the council, the application process will be completely through the institute. Once the HOI confirms that the student has indeed been affected by the disaster, the Council will issue a duplicate document to him/her.

The application process has started with immediate effect. Students whose documents have been lost due to recent floods or landslides can contact their school or college. After verifying the application of the students, the principal officer of the institute will send it to the council.
Council’s humanitarian action
Council Chairman Prof. (Dr.) Chiranjib Bhattacharya has said on this initiative that this decision has been taken only to help the flood affected students. He said that we do not want the future of any student to be bleak due to natural disaster. Education is everyone’s right and the council will ensure that students can retrieve their documents without any additional burden.
