A big disclosure has come out from Bhagalpur before the Bihar assembly elections, which has created a stir from administration to political corridors. The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs has revealed shocking information that the names of two women from Pakistan were recorded in the voter list of Bhagalpur and they were also issued voter ID cards. After this serious disturbance, there has been a stir in the administration.

Confirmation of the living of three Pakistani citizens in India

The Ministry of Home Affairs had recently prepared a list of foreigners living in India even after the end of the visa period. During this investigation, three Pakistani citizens were confirmed in Bhagalpur district. Among them, two women – Emrana Khanam alias Imrana Khatoon, Firdausia Khanam have been revealed. According to the investigation report, both women were living in Bhikhanpur Gumti No-3, Tank Lane of Ishakchak police station area of Bhagalpur, but the most shocking thing was that their citizenship was never converted into India, despite their names were included in the voter list.

After the report of the Special Branch, the Bhagalpur district administration was directed to take action, considering the entire matter very serious. District Magistrate of Bhagalpur Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary confirmed that the process of removing the names of both Pakistani women from the voter list has been started. He also said that strict action will be taken against the officers and employees responsible for this disturbance. The DM says that it is being seen at what level the lapse was made and due to negligence, the names of foreign nationals were recorded in the voter list.

While the report of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Special Branch is confirming to be a foreign national, on the other hand the family is rejecting this claim outright. Mohammad Gulauj, son of Firdausia Khanam, says that her mother was born in Bhagalpur in 1945 and she is living here. He said that he has also submitted all the documents related to citizenship and identity to the administration, but the report has given incorrect information. Mohammad Gulauj alleges that his mother has been described as a Pakistani citizen without correctly investigating the facts.

Local people have also responded to the matter. Mohammad Engine Khan, who is said to be the neighbors of these women, said that both had been living here for a long time and remained a part of the society. He says that this kind of allegation is really shocking. This entire development has raised many serious questions – 1. When citizenship was not converted into India, how did the names record be recorded in the voter list? 2. How did such a great negligence in the process of issuing voter ID card? 3. Is there complicity at any local level or is it only the negligence of the officers? 4. If this disturbance has surfaced in a place, can other districts also have such cases?
