The state government has announced that now these employees will be given Rs 350 per day or a lump sum of Rs 1400. This means that now they will get almost double the payment compared to before.
Who are Class IV employees?

Their important role in election duty
During elections, along with administrative and security personnel, class IV employees are the ones who handle all the work at the ground level. They remain present at the polling stations from morning till late night so that every process is completed properly. From taking care of the voting machines (EVMs) to cleaning the polling stations and helping the voters, these employees perform responsibilities at every step.
What did the Election Commission say?
The Commission has said that this change is an important step towards giving appropriate compensation to the employees deployed on election duty for their hard work. The objective of the Commission is that the employees who work with full devotion in the election process should get the right value for their hard work. This decision will boost the morale of the employees and they will do their work with more dedication.
