State Bank of India: The country’s largest government bank State Bank of India (SBI) has changed its customer transaction charges. In such a situation, if you also have an account in SBI Bank, then this is useful news for you.
The bank has announced to levy service charge on online transactions done through IMPS (Immediate Payment Service). This may affect the daily banking of many users. However, this charge will be applicable only on those transactions which exceed Rs 25000. Small digital payments will remain free as before.
What will be the new IMPS charge of SBI?
Till now there was no charge for sending money online through IMPS from SBI account, but now under the new rule, the customer will have to pay service charge for transferring more than Rs 25000 through IMPS. If the transaction amount increases, the charge will also be decided accordingly.
If you are an SBI account holder and do a transaction of Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh through IMPS, then Rs 2 + GST will be charged. On sending amount between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, Rs 6 + GST will be charged and on amount between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, Rs 10 + GST will be charged.
That means, the higher the amount sent through IMPS, the higher will be the expenditure. However, this charge is not very high. SBI’s new IMPS charge will be applicable from 15 February 2026. However, if you send an amount up to Rs 25,000 through Internet Banking, Mobile Banking or YONO App, there will be no charge on it, but if the amount is more than this then you will have to pay the charge.
Which customers will get the discount?
However, SBI has not made any change in the IMPS charges on branch transactions. It will be limited to Rs 2 to Rs 20 plus GST. Apart from this, many special account categories will continue to be exempted from the revised IMPS fees. These include DSP, PMSP, ICSP, CGSP, PSP, RSP accounts as well as Shaurya Family Pension Account and SBI Rishtey Family Savings Account.
ATM and ADWM charges also increased
Apart from this, the revised ATM and ADWM charges of SBI will be applicable from December 1, 2025. Under this, Rs 23 plus GST will be charged for withdrawing money more than the free limit from ATMs of other banks. Salary account holders will continue to get 10 free transactions every month. Charges on all ATM transactions have been increased for current account holders. However, Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts, SBI debit card holders or Kisan Credit Card accounts have been kept out of the scope of this increased limit.
