There is news of great relief for the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh. The electricity distribution companies (discoms) of the state will return about Rs 102 crore as excess amount collected from consumers. This amount will be adjusted in the electricity bill of the consumers.

According to the information, this decision has been taken on the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC). The Commission found that electricity companies had charged more than the prescribed charges from consumers on various items. After this, the Commission ordered that the extra recovered amount should be returned to the consumers.

According to electricity department officials, this amount will not be given to consumers separately in cash, but will be returned through adjustment in the upcoming electricity bills. The amount will be reduced in the bills of consumers from whom excess recovery has been made.
