Encounter continues between security forces and terrorists on the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. So far two terrorists have been killed in this operation. Army action is still going on as more terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the area. This operation started when security forces got information about an infiltration attempt. The Indian Army has surrounded the entire area and the search operation has been intensified. The activities of terrorists from across the border have again seen an increase in recent times.
Hideout of terrorists exposed
During the joint operation, the Army and Police had exposed a hideout of terrorists in Bridthor forests of Warsan area. During the operation, security forces recovered two AK series rifles, four rocket launchers, a large cache of ammunition and other war material. According to officials, this operation was started on the basis of intelligence received by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army based in Srinagar. The search operation is still going on so that other terrorists hiding in the area can be found.
There was an encounter between the army and terrorists in Guddar forest also.
It is noteworthy that earlier there had also been an encounter between the army and terrorists in Guddar forest of Kulgam district. In that operation, two terrorists were killed, while two soldiers were martyred. One of the killed terrorists was identified as Aamir Ahmed Dar, a resident of Shopian, who was associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and was active since September 2023. He was included in the list of 14 wanted terrorists released after the Pahalgam attack.
