The Election Commission said that after the final voter list is updated, the dates of the panchayat elections will be announced. Along with this, he said that once the date of elections will be announced, after that the code of conduct will be implemented. Orders have been issued to all departments. After this order, the stir will increase in the Union Territory.

Congress, National Conference and PDP activists demonstrated on the streets in Jammu on Tuesday demanding the restoration of the state status of Jammu and Kashmir. These three parties, along with the all -party United Front (APUM) of Jammu, celebrated August 5 as ‘Black Day’, condemning the state to convert the state in the Union Territory in 2019.

APUM is a group of various social organizations and political parties. State Congress Executive President Raman Bhalla garlanded the statue of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh on the Tawi bridge with former ministers Lal Singh and Taranjit Singh Tony. Bhalla, while leading the performance, told reporters, “Today’s black day performance is part of our campaign under our princely state our right, which aims to restore the pride and splendor of this historic Dogra state, because on August 5, 2019, the BJP destroyed this pride and splendor.”
BJP running administration with remote control- Congress
State Congress spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that the BJP has weakened the democratically elected government and it is running the administration from the office of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha through ‘remote control’. He said, “Assembly elections were held last year on the direction of the Supreme Court, but the government is not being allowed to work. They (BJP people) lost the election, but are still running the government through the Lieutenant Governor’s office and the public is upset due to this double rule.
Congress MLA was detained by police
Along with this, he said that the Supreme Court has directed to restore the status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible, but even after 10 months of the order, the Center is deferring to restore state status. The Congress performed similar demonstrations at all district headquarters. In Rajouri, the attempt by Congress workers to take out a rally was thwarted by the police and also detained MLA Iftikhar Ahmed and many others for some time.
