There is big relief news for India regarding the shortage of LPG gas. According to sources, Iran has given permission to India to take two LPG tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. This has happened at a time when on Friday (13 March 2026) Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Fatahali indicated that India will be given safe passage for the movement of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important sea routes in the world at present.
Iranian ambassador hints at relief from Hormuz
When Iran’s ambassador to India Mohammad Fatahali was asked whether Iran would give safe passage to New Delhi. On this he said, ‘Yes, India is our friendly country. We are trying to solve this problem. You will see it in two-three hours. We believe that Iran and India have common interests in this region.
How many Indian flagged ships are stranded?
Rajesh Kumar Sinha of the Shipping Ministry of the Government of India said, ‘There are 24 Indian flag ships in the Persian Gulf on the western side of the Strait of Hormuz, on which a total of 677 Indian sailors are aboard. There were previously four ships in the Gulf of Oman, east of the Strait of Hormuz, one of them was moved yesterday. Now there are only 3 Indian flag ships left, on which 76 Indian sailors are aboard. Apart from this, about 23,000 Indian sailors are working on different ships in the entire Gulf region, which includes merchant ships and offshore ships.
Dr. Abdul Majeed Hakim Elahi, representative of Iran’s supreme leader in India, said, ‘Iran has not closed the Strait of Hormuz. It is open. However, due to the current conditions and circumstances, ships are unable to pass through Hormuz. Iran never wanted Hormuz to be closed or disrupted. Some ships are still passing through there.
India will get big relief
In many states of India, people were seen standing in queues for LPG cylinders on Friday. The central government said on Friday that the supply of LPG to homes has been ensured without any interruption and asked not to panic and book the cylinder. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said that since March 5, domestic production of LPG has increased by 30 percent.
Regarding LPG, he said, ‘No report has been received from any of the 25,000 distributors about running out of stock. I would like to appeal to all citizens to ignore rumors and avoid panic buying.
