In the first test match played between Pakistan and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, an incident happened which shocked everyone. Pakistan won the match, but what happened on the last day exposed the security arrangements. Actually, a cricket fan broke the security cordon and went straight to the dressing room of the Pakistan team, due to which there was chaos everywhere. His aim was to meet his favorite cricketer and team captain Babar Azam.
The fan broke all limits, reached the dressing room door
The incident is said to be on the day of Babar Azam’s 31st birthday. According to reports, a young fan, Majid Khan, jumped out of the enclosure and ran towards the dressing room with the help of supports. Although Babar Azam was not in the dressing room at that time, otherwise the situation could have become more serious. When the coaching staff saw the fan, they immediately called the security team. Within a few minutes the man was taken into custody.
Questions raised on PCB’s silence
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet given any official statement on this incident. This very thing now remains a topic of discussion. Cricket analysts and fans are raising questions on social media that despite such strict security arrangements, how did someone reach the dressing room?
Spectators have entered the field many times in Pakistan before, but it is a very rare case for someone to reach the dressing room. This incident is being considered a big example of negligence of security agencies.
Babar Azam expressed concern
When Babar Azam was informed about this incident, he himself was surprised as to how someone could go to such extent. He has demanded from PCB to further strengthen the security system. This incident is a warning for Pakistan Cricket Board. Now PCB will not only have to review the security arrangements but will also have to make strict rules.
